Soooo I've definitely dabbled in blogging before but have not been super successful. I'm hoping with my 26th birthday coming up in just a few weeks that I've perhaps developed some blog resiliency heh. I thought it would be fitting to start this new blogging experience with celebrating some other Newsies in my life (get ready for more musical jokes to come).

Roman the "we have no idea" mix puppy
The next new thing in my life is this heartbreaker over to the left. My husband Chris and I adopted Roman the mixed-breed puppy this past Tuesday after he was found "roaming' around by our friends a few weeks ago. While Roman is certainly fitting into our family quite nicely...I HAD FORGOTTEN HOW CRAZY PUPPY TIME IS!!!! Roman likes to get up to go outside and do his business at approximately 3 am every day...and I mean EVERY day. He also hasn't exactly mastered the potty-training thing nor has he realized that he is supposed to chew toys, not windowsills, blinds, iPad covers, remote controls, knitting projects, etc. Lucky he's so cute heh.

Quince & Co. Puffin in "sabine"
And the caboose on the new train...not one but TWO packages of new yarn. First I just received a bag from Quince & Co. who I've ordered from a few times after falling in love with the Imogen Cowl by Carrie Bostick Hoge of Madder that called for three skeins of Tern. I ordered yarn for two projects: three skeins of Puffin in Sabine (a beautiful dark gray) for the Portland Hoodie Cowl which will be PERFECT for my Alaska spring vaca and three skeins of Sparrow in Butternut to make some sort of lace-stitch kerchief for the warmer weather that has hit. Hoping to also spread my sweater wings for the first time by possibly knitting something from knitbot linen by Hannah Fettig.

Malabrigo worsted merino in Apple Cinnamon, Burgundy and Marine
There was also my first box from Eat.Sleep.Knit sitting on the doorstep when I came home for lunch with the pups. Having just joined their Yarnathon, I was really itching to order yarn in some "looking towards fall" colors for the Betsey Shawl by Amy Miller that I've been staring at obsessively for the past month or so. (Also realizing that I have a slight...ahem...MAJOR shawl/scarf/kerchief/wrap addiction and should probably branch out soon.) I've loved working with Malabrigo yarn ever since I completed my second ever knitting project (the linen-stitch scarf from The Yarnery) and decided to pick up two skeins in burgundy, two in apply cinnamon and one in marine and BOY are they beautiful together and will hopefully look great knit together.
That's about all here on the Texas homefront and I hope to have pictures up of my current project: Happy Street using Miss Babs yummy two-ply in the next few weeks with two more stripes in each of the contrasting colors to go.
Happy Knitting!
Lauren
